Summer downpours (June-August) can flood the river and close cruises, while the terraced fields of Longji are at their best after late-May planting and again in October's golden harvest.

Guilin FAQs
Can the Li River cruise close due to rain?
Yes. Heavy summer rain raises water levels and can suspend cruises between Guilin and Yangshuo. Spring and autumn are far safer bets.
How many days do I need in Guilin?
3-4 days is comfortable: one for the Li River cruise, one to explore Yangshuo, and one for the Longji Rice Terraces. Add a day if you want to hike the terraces.
Is Guilin good in winter?
Temperatures sit around 8-15°C with a damp mist. Scenery can be moody and beautiful, crowds are thin, and hotels drop to $25-40/night. Pack a warm coat.
